The Ravens of Ridgeview are a perfect 9-0 on the season, including a 41-0 (according to the official OSAA website… could that be a typo?) win over Wilsonville back on March, 19th.

Ridgeview is the top-ranked Class 5A team in the state by OSAA power rankings. They are coached by Sandy Fischer, who was a longtime, lots of wins, coach at Oklahoma State University. (see article in link)

Last season Ridgeview reached the state quarterfinals.

What constitutes a match:
• Add or no add, you and your opponent decide.
• A match must be at least a set to 6 games to count. It could be a pro set, a two out of three sets with a third-set tiebreaker, or a full two out of three sets or if you are crazy, you can even play three out of five (Grand Slam style).
• Only one match per day vs the same opponent (the first one played). For example, Bobby can’t play three sets vs Timmy and count it as three matches. Bobby and Timmy could play one set and count it as their match. They could then decide to play additional sets but those would not count towards the ladder or their total of matches played. They could however play again the next day.

• Rankings are updated weekly.

The two big changes for Central Oregon would be the Class 6A Inter County Conference and the Class 5A Intermountain Conference.

With five intermountain Conference boys basketball teams each round of games will feature one bye. Round one is in the books with Summit beating Redmond and Bend beating Ridgeview. IMC games will happen every Tuesday and Friday nights from here on out.

• Summit @ Hood River Valley Boys Soccer – HRV is the two-time defending Class 5A state champions.

Thursday
• Aloha @ Bend Girls Soccer – Always tough teams from the Metro Conference.

Friday
Start of IMC football, as in old school(ish) IMC football.
• Mountain View @ Hermiston – Old rivalry renewed. Neither team is that far removed from a state championship and looking to climb back towards the top.
• Redmond @ Bend – One of the oldest rivalries in Central Oregon. Bend hopes to improve to 3-0, Redmond looking for their first win.
• Pendleton @ Summit – The Storm hope to build on last-week’s big win over Ashland.
• Hood River Valley @ Ridgeview – One of these teams will get their first win of the season.

Saturday
• Summit @ Northwest Classic XC Meet – A big matchup between the Storm and Crater, who should be the top two boys teams at the Class 5A state meet on the same Lane Community College Course in November.

Winning a high school cross country race is a big deal. Winning that race against competition like Summit of Bend and Central Valley of Washington is a really big deal!

Albert Hesse of Ridgeview took first place at the Mountain View XC Runoff on Saturday at Bend’s Pine Nursery Park. Among the racers he beat were 5A State Champions of Summit and Spokane’s Central Valley, who was 9th at last year’s Washington State championship.

Look for Hesse to be a major player in the 5A state meet this year!
