It’s hard to repeat as state champion!

Of all the state championship teams in Oregon this Fall only five of the 28 teams are repeating as state champion.

West Linn and Central Catholic will play for the Class 6A state football championship on Saturday in Portland to finish off a Fall season where only Dufur (1A) was able to win a second state football title in a row.

All the Fall teams with current multiple state championship streaks:
5A Summit Girls Cross County – 9
6A Central Catholic Boys Cross County – 5
1A Country Christian Volleyball – 3
3A Oregon Episcopal Girls Soccer – 3
1A Dufur Football – 2

Here is the full list of state championships from the Fall.

It was a balanced title run at the Class 5A level. A year after Summit won five of six state championships, this year six different 5A teams won state championships.

First is was cross country, then soccer and now football… So yeah, you could say it’s been a good fall for the Central Catholic Rams. The 6A private-school powerhouse has dominated 2014.
