Early season XC showdown of top 5A teams on Saturday

Ashland has the fastest times of the season, while Summit and Crater are the top-two boys cross country teams returning this year in Class 5A. Those three will face off on Saturday in the Northwest Classic at Lane Community College in Eugene.

Those three teams should contend for state trophies on the girls side as well, with the Summit girls being the heavy favorites to repeat as state champs and win their ninth state title in a row.
